So I have gotten my hands on a 1000 gallon tank, and the fish that has caught my eye is the Arapima. State law in Texas is that A Arapima is legal, while Arapima Gigas is not..can someone tell me the differance. Also where I can obtain one..legally..
A true monster fish! At 6 ft potential length even a 1000 gallon may not be enough. You can try monsterfishkeepers.com. There's a photo of one in a 5000 gallon tank and it still makes the tank look too small.
I believe arapaima and arapaima gigas is the same thing. arapaoma gigas is just the scientific name.
You could put a couple arowanas and peacock bass in there. Maybe some rays if you want.
OMG 1000 gallons! I'm wiping the drool off of my keyboard.
You must post pics. when you have it up and running.
Wont be until I get a fish decided, lol..I already have arrowana, oscar, now jack dempseys, and Frontosa..I thought about rays, but i heard they are extremely hard to take care of and know nothing about it..so looking for something new..i personally like fish that can bite off a finger, haha
How about a Dovii?
Never heard of it..Ill look it up
wow 1000g omg where u gunna put it!!
In my living room, lol..that way everyone can see it..So I looked up that fish, and its a no go..I dont want 1000 gallons for one fish, haha..any other ideas?
You could do a Red Tail Catfish. They are know to form a personality with the owner and be quite active catfish. you could also do alligator gar. Maybe even Giant Snakehead depending on where you live
