Hello im just had a quick question about Platy's.
Well i origanally got
1 male Platy
2 female Platys
1 female Swordtail
3 male Guppys
1 male guppys
So 1 of my platys was ill since i got it and passed away yesterday. So angry me tookmy mum to the pet shop and said 'well my platy ahs just died' i was more paranoid that there was now 1 male 1 female ratio.
So they gave me another one which is healthy but also. PREGNANT. So the male doesnt seem to be interested and he is constantly chasing the feamle? Is this a problem or will he chase the swordtal and maybe the pregnant platy? Than you in advance
Male platys will chase anything. I even have swordtail/platy hybrids.
If you are able, try to raise the fry. My LFS gives me store credit; when I bring in 4 platies, I get a container of bloodworms ;)
Can't remember the last time I bought fish food.
same here as kald...
Perfectly normal behavior... plus since you have I'm assuming 2 males and 6 female ratio, it wouldn't have mattered if you got a new platy female or not. If you exclude the fry in my tank... I have 6 males and 13 females+ ... all live bearers, all can breed with one another.
Hi again Fishboy! Platys...swords...you are going to have a wild variety! Be sure you have some cover for those fry!
My tank has got LOTS of plants, but im gunna let nature takes its cause in the tank.....
