I have 2 26W twist bulbs in my nano reef in a regular 10 gallon hood. Will this be sustancial lighting to house coral/anemone's? If so what kind?
Do you know the K output of the lights? But my guess is if they are standard lights and not custom made from a person who kept a reef is that you will need to buy a new light system. And unless your new light system has a huge output then you will be limited to soft corals(such as I will be doing). But the K of the bulbs is essential to know if they are good or not.
This article might help you understand SW lighting and other things as well http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/s...t-water-19051/
And you might want to read up on SW if you have done this before so you don't jump into it and lose alot of money since it is expensive but WELL worth it if you put the right time and effort into it.
The light bulb says HELICAL 26w 120VAC 60Hz 390mA. Does that help any?
Ok I fnd that they are 2700K ea.
you should bump them up to at least 6500K...this should not be to costly...your other option is to buy 50-50 Compact flouresents....these are very costly but will give you proper light for a 10 gallon...i have mentioned in another of your threads about putting a second fixture ontop of a glass hood...allowing more light and a beter variety of coral....
I got some 50/50's yesterday and they were like $11 each so not too bad
as for the nems unless you are getting mini maxi's i would not bother.. they get realllllllll big and you wont have enough room eventually they will eat the other inhabitants....... some nice softies and or some zoas would do nice in that set up though..
So can anyone give me a list of things that I will be able to keep?
some medium light corals like....palythoas, some zoanthids, kenya trees, small sarcophytons, sinularia, some small euphyllia, anthelia, clauvularia, and remember all of these will need to ultimatly be trimmed once they grow too large for you tank...but dont worry most LFS will trade for the frags...
