Do goldfish kill apple snails?
I was just wondering if I could put my apple snail in my goldfish tank.
Help much appreciated.
Yes, I've heard that Goldfish and loaches kill apple snails.
I certainly would not put a snail in with a goldfish.
Hope this helps.
I've seen pleanty of people keep them with goldfish, so yes it can be done. If you Google your question, you'll have links come up of people who have kept them together long term with no problems. I tried it myself but it didn't work out for me. The goldfish did indeed nip at the snails, so much so they were leary to come out of their shell. If I were you, I'd make sure to have another tank to keep the snails in (in case it doesn't work out) if you are going to give it a try. Good luck.
ok thanks very much!!
Sorry, I guess I didn't relize snails could live with goldfish. Some snails grow thier intenaes back if they get nipped off. So your apple and goldfish will probably do just fine:-D
I would say that it depends on the temperment of the goldfish you have. I had two apple snails in with 3 lionhead goldfish. Two of the goldfish left the snails alone. The third goldfish pushed the snails around the tank like a little soccer ball. I had to take the snails out.
