well the link, but you replied so, thank you..............

What do you know about PH?

PH out of tap used to be at 8.2 - 8.3

Suddenly it is now at 7.8 out of the tap.... i let the water sit overnight to dissipate any gas, but still ph is at 7.8

was doing a pwc last night and trying to match PH in tank (currently at 8.2) and unable to do so due to the ph in my tap water has changed.

Dilemma is what to do now?

1. should i gradually add the new water (with the ph of 7.8) ? Say add 1/2 gallon per day to gradually pull the ph down into the 7.8 range?

The other issue is that even when i had the tank down to a ph of 7.4 or so when i first began using r/o water, the tank always seems to climb back up to a ph of above 8. KH is usually in the neighborhood of 5 - 7 / GH varies from 9 - 11 .

perhaps this is why the betta keeps having issues, i.e. disease, cloudy eye, etc.
