Can hermit crabs be keep in brackish? i have been looking on the net and cant seam to find a specific salininty range other then "marine" in the discriptions. I have read some come from inter-tidal areas. is that brackish areas or am I missing something. It would be nice to have a hermit crab in the tank.
this is one I was looking at the Hawaiian Zebra Hermit Crab

72-78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, sg 1.023-1.025 those are the water params.plus you should know it's a reef species.

that rules that one out. I saw the reef friendly listed for it but didnt know it required a reef to keep it. I did find this one Clibanarius africanus . From what Ive read it likes the salininty to be around 1.005 to 1.010. It has been refered to as the "mangrove hermit crab" they also have a snail listed as brackish its name is T.fuscatus. I havent done any research on it as of yet
