Alternathera Reinckii Var. Roseafolia

Anybody know anything about this plant? I won a plant package on aquabid from sweetaquatics for 6 potted plants and this is one of the plants I can chose from but I can't seem to find much info on it. I think its a very pretty red color but I need more info like how big it gets, light requirement, and all that stuff thats good to know. LOL

I tried growing this plant and one by one the leaves dropped off, then the stems just melted away.
I knew my lighting in the tank probably wasn't going to be enough for this particular plant but I had to try it, at least once.

LOL thats what I am worried about to but it is so pretty I want to try it at least one time. LOL

Yes, I thought the same. I should have known it would have never survived in my tank. It was purchased from a hi tech tank (light & C02) from a local LFS. :doh!:

Maybe since its comeing from sweetaquatics it will live in mine. At least I can hope then if it does I can send you some clippings if you like and you can try it again comeing from a low tech tank.

I've ordered that plant from sweets twice...This time it's doing better, but I'm not holding my breath...
The leaves are turning clear at the tips already.

This plant is in our plant profiles. It explains the variants and some are easier than others, and why.

Thanks Byron I read it. I got the plant yesterday and let me say I don't hold much hope for it but I planted it anyway.

If it ends up doing great in your "lo-tech" tank I'll take you up on the "cuttings" offer. :-)
