i just finished a DIY stand for my 29 gal FOWLR tank. i am going to be moving it about 30 feet. i was told to remove the water, rocks, and livestock. would it still be okay to move with the sand in the bottom, or is there a risk the weight might break through the bottom?
if the tank has a rim on the bottom then it shold be fine with the sand in it as long as the water and LR is out... i have moved a few tanks this way around in my house with no ill effects....
a word of caution however. if you do not have a bottom rim or if there is a known crack or week spot than i would not attempt to move it with anything in side...
also when making the move i like to find a way to have the tank in the air for the least amount of time possible, i put mine on an old table we have around the house move that closer to the new location then transfer again to the new stand
