Mixing hairgrass and dwarf sag in the same tank?
Would it be a waste to have both?
How long before they were thoroughly mixed?
Think that would look interesting or be a waste of money?

No one posted, so decided on mixing dwarf sag and echinodorus tenellus. Should have some color variation...

Sorry hadn't been here before.....I have both in 1 tank, I use the Sag in the back and the dwarf hairgrass toward the front.
I find it quit simple to keep them apart A) when you see runners spread out toward the other plant, gently put them back in "line" where you want them or B) You can use clear plexiglass or a piece DW to part off a corner and plant the sag for example there (that's what I did, works excellent).

I'll probably go with hairgrass when I do a larger tank... All of my tanks are 10s so I want my foreground plants to be super short. (My dwarf sag is 1-2 inches, but lays down... So it's more like 1/2-1/4 inch.)

I trim my sag about every 6 month to the height I like, works great :-)

Odd. It seems that sag grows at tall as it wants to grow. In two tanks it's 6-7 inches tall and sticking straight up, and in my main 10 it stays perfect.

Its diff in lights, even if its indirect sunlight. In my low light tank it also try's to "reach" fr the light and grows taller.
Hey not every human is the same size neither are we now? :-)

how much light is needed for hairgrass to stay low?

Have no idea... Still can't figure out why my sag in my 5G is tall-
12 watts of cool white and indirect sunlight should be lots of light...
