Proper filter for a 40 gal short
I've been window shopping for a new tank. I have narrowed my immediate search down to either a 38gal 36x12x?high and a 40gal 36x18x?high.
I kind of fell in love with the 40 but it looks kind of weird. It is the same length as a 30l and I think it is a tad bit higher but it is 18 inches wide. With this width would I need a different type of filter and air circulation? I plan on using a bio-wheel but I wasn't sure it would circulate enough.
Circulation is always good to keep the algae in check and provide for proper filtration. The different widths of the tanks is probably not that big of issue. (what does everyone else think?)
If your going to go for a power-filter I would recommend getting the largest one you can get your hands on. Other than that my canister filter (Eheim 2213) does a great job of circulating water in my 30G.
