My Otto's belly looks like its gonna blow up!

I just notice my Otto's belly keeps getting bigger and it just started turning a reddish color. Checked all my water levels and everything is ok. Thinking maybe some kind of parasite? Any help would be appreciated, hopefully he won't die. My wife's kind of attached to him.

I'm sorry :( Chances are he'll soon pass. I know this from experience and I don't know what to do or what caused it.

Yes, me too, I've had this same experience. It has always been an oto that had been new to my tank (which is established and well planted), swells up and dies within a month. I think that the otos come into the LFS not healthy.

Yeah I kind of figured that he might not make it. I checked on him before I went to work and it looks like the red area is now loosing flesh. His belly looks smaller like his stomache exploded and its now got fleshy pieces coming off around the bottom of his stomache. Should I remove him from the tank so that he doesn't contaminate the tank with whatever he had, parasite or bacteria, ect?

Nevermind when I got home from work today he was turning belly up and it looked like something white and fuzzy was growing in the infected area. So I humanely put him out of his misery.

I hope I don't have the same thing happen to the other Otto.
