Flex on my Oto??
I just recently added an Oto after one of mine found its way into my filter. Today, I noticed a white patch on his right side.
Is it indeed flex, or is it something else?
It was in my five gallon tank (occupants are a betta, three corries, and currently one other oto)
This oto in question is currently being held in a "critter keeper" thats significantly less than one gallon of water, but the best I had so the flex wouldnt pass itself along.
I'm new here due to the other forum that I like being down for over a week now.
I know my tank is on the border of being over stocked, but it has been this way for over 3 months now with no problems so please dont mention the stocking.
The oto was purchased from petco last sunday, I just noticed the flex 30 mminutes ago and immediately took him out of the tank.
Would be best to wait a week or two if possible to purchase these fish from fish stores if at all possible.
If the one gallon critter keeper is not cycled,,you have done the fish no favors but I understand the reasoning.
You will need to change the water in the critter keeper around 50 percent each day or ammonia produced by the oto (all fish) ,,will become toxic (lethal).
Would do this each day along with providing stable temp, filter, and airstone for the critter keeper while observing the fish to see if condition worsens.
Would not medicate the fish for their is no clear indication from photo what could be ailing it ,and there are no medications that I am aware of that offer one gallon dose. Would be esy to over medicate and kill the fish.
Clean dechlorinated water each day, with stable temp ,along with very sparse offering of spirulina pellets or flake and removing uneaten portions after an hour would be what I would do were it me.
