Buying the EHEIM 2217!!! Help

OK, im finally trading in my HOB Marineland 350 filter for a canister filter. Im tired of the noise and it doesnt seem to work all that well. Ive researched several filters and seems like im going to buy the EHEIM 2217 filter.

I have a 55 gallon planted tank, with 2 small chiclids,1 goldfish, a large shrimp, 2 small corys and a pleco and blood parrot. There just always seems to be gunk floating in the water, small particles.

Ive never used a canister filter before, let alone this one, i getting it online at petsmart. It says it comes with all the media, just not sure how it all works, how to clean it or how often to clean. A

Any help would be great, thanks.

Eheim Classic Canister Cleaning Instructions

Cleaning frequency depends on the fish load and media. Most people clean it every 3-6 months.

Yeah. That Eheim will do the trick for you in no time.

I'd be wary of the goldfish in that tank with everybody else. Radically different temperature requirements.

Dr Fosters

Aquarium Filters: Eheim Classic Canister Series 2213, 2215, and 2217

You only need the fine filter media. The rest is reusable as long as you rinse the course media in cold water.
