Angel fish problem
ok, so yesterday, i got myself a pair of male and female angelfish. i went to put them i my 55 gallon that already has a 3 inch tiger oscar in it. so everything was ok the first night, every one got along, then this morning, i went to check on them and Ozzy had half an angel fish sticking out of his mouth! i poked Ozzy with a net and amazingly he let go and the angel fish swam away as if nothing had happened! i removed both angel fish right away and put them in my bro's 15 gallon tank. they are both doing fine, but i was really planning on raising them to adults. i've already given up too many fish due to agression, and im not giving this pair up. and now my bro wants them out of his tank, like, now, and i have no where to put them. would a temporary holding bucket work while i find a tank for them to live in? and when they r big enough that ozzy can't swallow them whole, then could i return them to the 55 gallon? RESPOND!!!!!!!!!!:-D
it depends on the tank mates, it might be better to move the oscar, not the angels, but it depends on your setup, angels dont do to well to stress in my opinion, alot of transfer may stun them, mostly psycological, how easy is it to aquire a new tank and at what size
I hear ya. Oscars are and will always be an agressive fish and I too love them. I've had my share of Oscars but for that same reason I have given up on them. You're lucky that your angels survived the night actually. If you love your Oscar and want to keep him you'll have to rehome the Angels in a new tank. If you care to give the Oscar a tankmate, you might have to rearrange the tank the same day you introduce an equally agressive fish like a Jack or perhaps another Oscar so they can fin for their territory at the same time. That's just my experience.
Good Luck! :)
As stated, Oscars and Angels cannot be housed together. Aggression is one MAJOR reason and another is a difference in water parameters. You're fairly limited with your Oscar, but if you really care to keep the Angelfish, you can have a nice community along with your Angels.
