10 Gallon Reef Build
Hello and Welcome!

I have been wanting to build a reef in my 55 gallon tank but I don't enough cash to start it. I was talking and was offered a great deal by a fellow member(bearwithfish) and thought why not. I wanted to get my feet wet and get used to SW.

I got a 10 gallon AIO tank that he made (Link to his thread: ) With ~4lb of Live rock and some starting live sand along with some chaeto algae, a heater, and a powerhead. Again Thank you very much for the trade.

Right now I have a 1" sand bed, ~4 lb of LR, ~5-6 lb of base rock, and the chaeto(probably not the best idea since the tank got cloudy). The water I have is Petco real ocean water and will be Instant ocean water after I get my RO system(Monday). Here are some pics of what it looks like and I will be posting videos on my youtube channel hopefully every week either on Thursdays or Saturdays and whenever something new is in and the link is in my signature. And now for the whole reason people are on this thread...The pictures.

The tank(without water):

With sand in(cloudy):

I will post more pics when It clears up. I will be posting a video On youtube today and tomorrow(when clears up).

love MOMO!!!!!!!!!!! thats a normal issue when setting up it may take a day or to to clear... here is a tip i used and got it clear in about 4 hours.... toss on 3 HOB filters with filter pads and take out and wash the pads every 30 minutes.. you will pull all the junk out and get clear super fast... i used this method on my 50 when i first set up and it was great.....

When I saw you replied I was like YAY! lol. Ya I would do that but I sadly do not have a HOB filter..actually I do but it would take the entire volume of water to start it up lol. I was doing something similar with a filter pad though with the media basket. thanks for the tank and advice!

it will work in time i just wanted to give you a way to do it faster LOL i know once my tanks got wet i could not slow down... hence the crash..... but with the upgrade i did a few things fast (like clear the water) and slow for everything else...

Quick update: The tank cleared up a bit over night so I dusted off the ruck and the sand is going to have to settle again(Probably by the time I get home). I was so happy to see the rocks. But the sand was too high is some spots so I have to pull some of it up a bit. This is exciting!
