This plant is taking over my tank!
This new plant is taking over my tank, and I'm loving it! Does anyone know how to trim it so I can be prepared when it becomes to large? It's the one that starts behind my castle, to the right of the tank, and floats across the top.
The first pic is from before...about 1 week ago,
And the others are the new ones from today.....
and another pic since the new growth....
Its looks cool but isnt it going to choke out all the light to the rest of the plants?
it looks like an aponageton ulvaceas..i think i spelled that correctly..any how it is just alarge plant in general and wouldnt recomend trimming it you might want to trde it in for something smaller..
you can trim it just like all other plants. Its best to break off the outer most leaves at the base of the stem. These are the oldest leaves and removing them will not harm the new growth. Any happy plant will be bubbling in misery afterwards, but it will get over it shortly. I use to have to massacre red rubin swords in my tanks, tearing off easily 6 to 12 leaves that were two feet long each week.
It looks like either the aponogeton ulvaceus or some type of sword...
You can trim off the oldest (biggest) leaves at the base, but I would reccomend trading it to someone.
It shouldn't get too much bigger (longer) but it might get more filled out...
That is a cool looking plant. A bit big for the tank but beautiful all the same.
