Suggestions for an Algae Eating Fish
I have a 28 gallon tank kept a little above 75 degrees in very acidic and soft water. I'd do otos, but I never had luck with them, and even though this tanks is over a year old, I still don't feel I can handle them. Any suggestions? I'd prefer a fish that does fine alone or in a pair.

Bristlenose plecos are great. I have a male in my 40gal along with cories, black skirt tetras etc etc. :) He is doing great and my glass is spotless. They do have quite a heavy bioload, tho, which you need to keep in mind. I feed him algae wafers as well.

cherry shrimps or amanos are good but you will need a few....

You have the perfect tank for Farlowella. They are equal to otos in their constant grazing of all surfaces for common algae (the same algae otos will eat, common green and diatoms). Can be kept singly, or in a trio. I recently posted some photos on my Farlowella spawning, and of the fry which are doing fine now after several weeks. A neat fish, almost prehistoric, but extremely peaceful, 5 inches max but so think this is hardly noticed, and terrific in soft acidic tanks.
Check out the profile, Farlowella vittata, [click on the shaded name] and the photos in my other thread here http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/f...catfish-47442/
