Unstocked saltwater sand in freshwater
I setup a 55 gallon tank with just sand in it from the pet store, not live sand though, added the salt, and now its been sitting for a few weeks and has never been stocked. Weve decided to go freshwater for the low maintenance and cost right now. What do I have to do to the sand to be able to use it? Just rinse it? Also, how the heck would I rinse it? lol
Just rinse it a lot...
As far as how... I'm not sure...
Maybe pile all the sand on one side, and do it in bucketfulls, and dump clean sand on the other side?
I'm playing around with a saltwater reef tank, but there's just no way I can afford it.
you can leave it as is and do a brackish tank just check to see how much salt there is when its full of water then do fresh water changes to the tank till its right for what ya want.
