Oscar with no more white markings.. not sure what they were.. damage?

I have a 3 + inch oscar whom I bought as an inch and a half juvenile. He has survived a fall out of his tank (bit my finger and got flipped out). I buy him some minnows occasionally and I think he might have damaged himself at one point chasing them. I noticed some white spiderweb like markings on him/her (how does one sex an oscar??). Now they are gone, apparently healed. I'd like to know, were they injuries?
thanks

I tend to think it is damage. There is another mark and this is after it tried to jump; hit the hood and rocketed around the tank for a second or two.

two cents

about the only to sex an oscar is to have it vented (which is stressful on the fish) or witness breeding in person. a 29g tank is WAY too small for an oscar, they have a large bio load and need room to swim even when there small. a 55g would work but 75g is better for a single oscar.

oscars are like aro only shorter. if it was a damage i think it healed ok since theres no marks left of the fish
