I think I have finally figured out what is going on in my 20gal I just had to wait for it to fully develop. I believe it is Velvet.
Will Formalin or Metronidazole treat Velvet? I also have Maracyn Plus but I don't think that is for the same kind of bacteria. If not is there something else that would work better? If I could use the Maracyn is it safe for scaleless? The guy at the fish store said yes and he's the guy at the local mom & pop that orders and deals entirely with the fish but I didn't feel comfortable with the answer.
My occupants are White Clouds, Platies, Honey Gourami, and Yo-Yo Loach.
I can't raise the tank temp because of the White Clouds so salt treatment is not an option.
The soonest I can get another med is Sat (I get a 3 day weekend YEAH!). Any suggestions?
Sorry to hear that you've got velvet.
I only really know of Formalin from the medications you have listed. It is safe for scaleless fish at lower doses which I assume will be detailed on the bottle.
I also know that there are medications available specifically for velvet, but fortunately for me I've never had velvet therefore have never used these medications so can't tell you much about them.
I hope your fish will all be alright.
I used it for Ich but I don't know if it will work on Velvet or not.
