How many fry are typical and why do they eat?
I had 4 babies show up in my 30g last night. I'm pretty sure it was Mrs. Fatty who had them. None of the guppies or swords seem to even notice they're in the tank. I really don't want to take them out of the tank since it's planted and they have hiding spaces. What should I feed these new little guys? How many fry do swords and guppies have at a time? I thought it was alot more like 80 fry at a time. Did those little piggies not care about the 4 fry since they already ate 70 fry?

My friend never took his out and after 2 weeks they all got eaten. Watch them and if any disappear then you might want to move them.

it could be that most got eaten but also sometimes fish just dont have very many.
if you leave them in there is a good chance they willo get eaten but having your tank heavily planted will def help
as for food: finely crushed (until it is basically a powder) flake food or newly hatched brine shrimp. a combination of both is best
oh, and congrats :D

I woke up this morning and found 8 more little guys. i haven't had time to look to see if they're swords or guppies yet but I'll check when I get home. I bought a breeder net so I'm going to pull them out tonight and put them in it.

By the time I got home from work there was about 60 fry in the tank! Everyone was fine until Mrs Fatty started the feeding frenzy and now I'm down to about 20 in a breeder net. I'm going to set up a fry tank tonight and hopfully move them next week since I have 1 prego guppy and 2 swords left that are just about ready to go.
