What To Do With My Dojo Loach
As some of you know from my previous thread, I recently purchased a Dojo Loach for my 29 gallon aquarium and am having second thoughts. The tank is set up as a tropical tank, so right off the bad the Dojo's coldwater preferences are clashing. Also there's not too terribly much cover, one big rock and a few small logs, but I left it mainly open because I want more active swimming fish. So far he's either been hiding the past few days, or freaking out and stirring up sand and swimming up the glass, generally acting stressed. My question is: Do you guys think getting a second Dojo would calm him enough to keep him, or should I just try taking him back to the LFS and getting corys or some other kind of bottom dwellers?
Also, what are your thoughts on my stocking plan?
9 Zebra Danios
2 Flame Dwarf Gouramis
2 Dojo Loaches (if I keep him, otherwise this will be replaced by some other bottom dweller)
2 Flame Neon Dwarf Gouramis
1 Small Angel fish
What do you guys think?
If it was me (and it's not) I'd return him, besides preferring cooler water than your other fishes, a 29gl isn't large enough or suitable for him long term.
I certainly agree with kymmie.
A group of Corydoras would suit your 29g, they are shoaling fish and a group of 5 would be fine. Or if you like two species, three of each will work. But no less than 3 of any one species, they need to be in a group.
