Green Terror Not Eating
Out of my 6 cichlids, the Green Terror is the smallest and has trouble getting his food because he's scared of the bigger fish. I'm currently feeding Hikari Cichlid Gold, and if you are familiar with the food, it floats at the top and doesn't sink at all. I figure if I got something that sinks, he would eat from the bottom, but decided to move him to a 5 gallon tank temporarily. Hopefully I can re-introduce him to the bigger tank after he gets a little bigger and confident in eating from the top again. I'm hoping when he goes back, he will learn to fit in with all the other cichlids again all over. What do you guys think?

GT's tend to grow slower than your other fish (Oscar, JD, Jag...) so I would be concerned that if you took him out to grow in another tank he still wouldn't catch up to the other fish. Then when you re-introduced him it would be worse in that the other fish would have already staked out their territories and he, being the new guy, would be targeted. A 5 gallon doesn't offer much growing room and honestly, I think he would grow faster in a bigger tank. Maybe try feeding both sinking and floating pellets at feeding time. Hikari does make a sinking Cichlid pellet but it's sometimes hard to find at the LFS and may need to be ordered. Or, I use the sinking catfish pellets which my cichlids love as well as the floating cichlid ones.
