adding a fish or two?
my 20G is all setup and fully cycled and has maintained since being set up. it is the home to 5 gold barbs, 2 albino tigers (babies), and a RTS.

was thinking about adding a loach...... a Kuhli. do you all think that i could i get 2 or 3? or just stick to 1?

would this be pressing my limits in this tank?

i would say that the red tail shark will bully, attack and probably kill the kuhlies. they are pretty agressive. id not be surprised if he bullied and attatcked the tiger barbs as well. ive never had one so this is just speculation but i from reading other peoples post it seems that rts = evil. they are definitely not recommended for the community tank, especially when they get older.

well i am yet to see him be a bully except for when other fish go into his cave. so compatibility right now isnt that big of an issue.

thats good to hear :)

im not saying dont keep them, like i said ive never had one its just from reading other posts. i would however keep a good eye on him as they tend to be agressive when theyre older, not so much when theyre young.

20g will become too small for your shark i think long term but you have plenty time to see about another tank.

as for the kuhlies: i believe they are quite easy to look after but the do like to be in small groups so i think 1 would be lonely. 3-4 wold be much better

i think that the rts's are beautiful fish, however i would be nervous of keeping them with the kuhlies like i said. with them being bottom dwellers they are likely to accidentally stroll into his territory often but that is just my opinion.

good luck whatever you choose

thanks for the words julie.

long term i will be getting a bigger tank. just right now it isnt an option because of living situation.

i was thinking about getting 3, because i had heard the same. from what i understand they also like a cave type area to hide in from time to time... so i was going to put another cave structure in the tank on the opposite end of the red tails cave.

im still waiting for my LFS to get them. apparently their supplier has had alot of trouble with their kuhli's becoming sick and such. so my LFS wont purchase them. they are going to let me know when they get some though.

i know what you mean there. i rescued a common plec from being flushed and have him in a 35g tank. hes only a baby, but hes gonna get WAY too big for his home. living in a small flat though anything bigger just isnt an option just now :(

good luck with your kuhlies when the fish store gets them in :)
