African Cichlids in 20 Gal...HELP!!!!

I would like to set up a 20 gallon tank with African cichlids, first of all, is this do-able. If so, I have a 20-gallon high and access to a 20-gallong long, which would be better? And finally, I would like to have color variation in the tank with as many fish as possible so which species would be the smallest with the greatest color? Thanks for any input, I greatly appreciate it. :-D

Try any of the Tropheus and Pseudotropheus species. They usually carry a greater range of color within their genus. :)

Longer is better. The above mentioned species take longer to grow to adult and don't breed in a hurry.

You want more surface area than volume. Tropheus can be territorial.
