Test kit results HELP!
Hey ok I have had a tropical tank now for a few months. I used a tetra test kit 5 in 1.
My results were
No3 : 25
n2 : 0
gh : 16
Kh : 15
Ph : 6.4
I lost the sheet that tells you what they should be and how to lower or higher them.
Can you please tell me If there to low or high. And please tell me how to get them up or down.
Does your testkit test for Ammonia (NH3)? How about Nitrite (NO2)?
Nitrate (NO3) is ok at 25ppm, but you will want to do regular water changes.
The pH of 6.4 is somewhat acidic, but depending on your fish, that could be fine for them.
Also, the water hardness (gH/kH) are dependant on your fish.
Ok thanks for that.
If this helps I have
2 live bearers
2 tiger barbs
2 barbs (not sure of kind)
and and some little fish like tetra's
Is that the test strips where all the tests are on one strip?
The readings are not bad, not really. If your tap water tests out to be about the same especially with the GH and KH then you should be fine. The similar tap water readings will keep from stressing the fish out when you do water changes.
So I should test the tap water for Gh and Kh and if there the same as tank test. And yes it is the test strip with all on one.
Thanks for your help
They don't have to exact, with 2-3 degrees is fine assuming you are not adding anything to change them.
Also, I know it means some more expense, but if you can, switch to the liquid test kits. Much more accurate and I know they cost a little more but they have 10-20 times as many tests and are much more accurate.
Ok thanks for help Yes I may change to the liquid test kit. Does any one know around about how uch they are ?
Ok thanks for help
