purchasing live fish online
 

not sure if ive posted this in the correct section...

i was wondering what everyone thoguht about this. i have never done it before, and would be very wary of doing so as it seems a very stressful process for the fish, and id be nervous of them arriving healthy and, well, alive.

however, i guess that most fish go through this process in order to arrive in the lfs that we buy them in.

the reason i ask is that i have my eye on a raphael catfish for my new tank, but have never seen them about for a long time. i can buy them online but like i said im wary of this process so was interested to see what everyone thought, and any experiences from folk who already have done so

i have noticed that any site i have come across has a "live delivery guarantee" meaning that if the fish dies within 5 days, or 7 days or whatever of arriving, they will ship out another one free of charge. this is all well and good however, i dont want a dead fish, then a replacement fish, i just want a healthy live fish in the first place. i know that this can happen buying a fish from a store, but it seems to me that it is riskier buying online as the journey is longer and more stressfull

anyone else with experiences buying fish online?
