asian plants any ideas on good asian biotope plants for a 30 gallon blackwater tank. plant light used no co2 and ph is 6.8 with slightly soft water |
Crypts,Java Fern,Hygrophila,Water sprite,Vallisneria,java moss |
nice plants =) |
How big is the tank? How many watts of light? |
30 gallons I get about 1 and a half watts per gallon. Its a T5 glo light for plants Posted via Mobile Device |
From the plants previously mentined, I would omit Vallisneria. In soft acidic water it does not always grow well; it is a true hard water plant. The others are fine, but you have a lot of light over them. Floating plants will be mandatory to help reduce the light or algae will take over. Ceratopteris cornuta is ideal as it is also SE Asian. |
Great! Thanks byron Posted via Mobile Device |
Your water is about the same as mine in my 37g and my Leopard Vallisneria grows very well,I have to trim it regularly. |
1 Attachment(s) I would go with sagittaria species... Hygrophila difformis, crypts, aponogetons (many), and rotalas are all southeast asian... I can offer more if you like. :) Oh, and Monosolenium Tenerum. It's wild-looking... Almost like a mutant pennywort that works well in the foreground.. |
That's awesome! Thanks to everyone for all the great plants :) Posted via Mobile Device |
