Quick Ich question
I have a fully planted 20Gal tank, fully populated with gourami's tetras, and corys. My most recent purchase, a spotted cory, has Ich spots on him.
None of my other fish are showing any symptoms, its normally a very healthy tank. My question is this, if I move the cory from my 20gal, to my 10gal quarentine tank, and the other fish in my 20Gal arent infected, will it lower my chances of the others getting it, or should I just leave the infected cory with the others. If there is no benefit to the other fish from moving the cory into the 10gal, I plan to treat the Ich with a heat raise to about 85F and some salt.
Thanks in advance.
You must treat the cory along with the rest and this must be done in the main tank. Not doing this would render treatment of cory as waste of time as the ich will still be able to strike repeatedly once the rest weakens due to stress and other factors related to stress.
During the course of treatment, vitamins should be given to prevent them from weakening due to the effects of the treatment. Most fish will have to tolerate the salt on short-term basis and treatment must be done at 14 days minimum.
The other fish aren't showing any signs of Ich, if I remove him, then is it true there is no need to treat the main tank? Or is the Ich still present regardless weather the infected cory is in there or not.
Thanks for the quick reply :D
