Welcome to TFK, Hamstern. We're glad you decided to join us. Are you setting up a tank? Details, details. :-)

I have one 20 gallon salt tank, and I have 10 gallon tank that I would like to set up as a fresh water plant community tank.I have a small bodget.Could I collect plants from my local pond or river?

yeah just soak them in a bucket with some parasite meds that are harmless to plants for a few days before putting them in da tank =)

You could, but you would need to be very careful as different parasites and bacteria could be introduced to your tank that way. If I was going to do that I'd treat the plants with Potassium Permanganate and that medication is a little costly (not to mention very messy and great care must be used when dealing with it) so you may be better off price & convenience wise to purchase some plants instead.

what animals do reccomend for a 10 gallon fresh water tank?

Do you know what your water parameters are? Soft/hard/ph? It's easier to keep fish that are suited to your water parameters, rather than the other way around. What types of fish catch your eye?

The city water is 7.2 and and I am using from a from a freinds tank which is also 7.2.I like Snials,Guppies and other fish.Do you now about fish and snails compatible with plants and Guppies?
