I've got worms...looking for information on them

I have 2 types of worms in my tank..both seem harmless. Since there is no way I can take a picture of them because they are so small I was wondering if there is a good site to help identify them. The first type looks like dust in the tank..so small but when you look close the worms are wiggly like they are having a seizure. The other type inches along the glass and is just a tad bigger than the dust worms..maybe a flatworm of some sort.

eeww... i put zentel in the tank if there's worms swimming about. the meds is for human.most parents give this meds to kids if they have worm issues.you know what i mean don't you. i had a worm infestation in my pearl arowana tank. scaled the whole tank and everything with hot water then added zentel to help kill of the worms in an on the arowana.

No never heard of it..as long as they aren't hurting anything I don't care if I have them..just want to know what they are and why I have them.

I know it is probably a stupid question but how do you get worms in your tank? Does it come in from food, fish Pooh or plants? Don't your fish eat them? I thought fish liked live food, wouldn't this be a good addition to their diet? Maybe you should just skip a day of feeding so they need to get a little hungry and forage instead of just waiting for handouts at the top of the tank? Just a thought.

well that depends if the worms are going to parasitise the fish or something. if the fish ate them that probably wouldn't be a good thing..

I am thinking bacteria..I don't have fish in this tank so it couldnt have come from them I only have plants and inverts. I do put glassworm cubes in and I have asked the question of if you put frozen worms in if there is a chance of them coming into the tank, be it unhatches eggs on them or what have you. They don't look like glass worms though..hopefuly I don't get huge worms like that..eek. Yeah I was going to skip feeding but right now I have some RCS eggs sitting on the ground that I don't want eaten..so I am doing the opposite and overfeeding to save them.

I don't have fish..only inverts and plants. I need a microscope to identify these tiny things.

I have no idea what zentel is or how to use it. Do you know where these come from or what they are? And does it matter what inhabitants you have if you use zentel?

kitten_penang 08-24-2010 01:34 PM

the meds are meant for human consumption but we use the to treat fish with worm problems. read this you will understand ZENTEL TABLETS 200mg (tablets); ZENTEL SUSPENSION 20mg/mL (suspension)
