goldfish and corys will do fine.just make sure it's large enough for the goldfish and everything will be ok |
I must disagree, no tropical should be mixed with goldfish. Secondly, a 54 litre (15 g) or 94 litre (25 g) tank is not sufficient size for two goldfish on their own. I will leave it for a goldfish expert to comment further. I would certainly not add corys. Their requirements (environmentally and water) are too different. |
Thought so, thnk u bryon ur answers are allways very detailed. Could i maybe have some corys and gouramis. Or platys and guppys?? I would like to have corys but wat could go with them?? Thnx agen thefishboy :-) |
why can't they go together??? looks good together if you ask me. but thats just me of course. |
kitten, I'll leave it for the goldfish folks to say why, there have been other threads here and the advice is always to never mix goldfish and tropicals. I'm afraid I haven't paid much attention to the reasons, as I never contemplated doing it myself. thefishboy, there are lots of options for tank mates for corys. First question is, what are your water parameters (pH and hardness) in the tap water? That will tell us whether soft water fish or harder water fish are best (corys are soft water but manage in slightly basic water). Also, is there a particular cory species you want? They are a bit different from species to species respecting water and temp. |
As i sed in the other post im not quite sure about water hardness etc. I live in oxford if that helps :/. I am thinking of corydoras julli. I think are water is hard but im not sure?? From my lfs they filter clean there own water and use it for there own tanks so im thinking of using that as its free of charge. Do u know how i could fing these things about our water?/. |
I have no clue if this will give u any information. Thnks alot for helping me. http://www.dwi.gov.uk/about/annual-r...s%20region.pdf |

As for the hardness, I didn't spot this although with a lot of work one could probably deduce it a bit from all the various minerals. I was looking particularly for calcium and magnesium and didn't see either mentioned. Ask your local fish store, they have probably tested the water themselves. They should at least know the answer, hardness and pH can be crucial to some fish. Byron. |
