My 5 and 10 gallon tanks.

Alright, so I have a couple questions about stocking, I'm not sure if this is in the right part of the forum or not...sorry if it's not!

I have a 10 gallon currently with 2 goldfish in it, but I am bringing them in to the local store so they can live in their pond-style giant tank because they have grown beyond my means.

This means I will have a 10 gallon tank free soon.

I am contemplating a few ways to go with this tank.
1 - put my betta in it
2 - put my serpae tetras in it (I have 2), and get 3 or 4 more so they can live in a school
3 - put my neon tetra in it (I only have one left) and get 4 or 5 more so they can live in a school.
4 - buy a school of danios.

Now. I have a few questions about starting a tank for any of these ways.
Is a 10 gallon big enough for a school of 5 or 6 serpae tetras? Is it big enough for 5 or 6 neon tetras? Is it big enough for 5 or 6 zebra danios?

I expect I'll most likely use it for either the neon or the serpae tetras, if it is big enough, as they are currently stuck without enough of the same species and there isn't room for more in my community tank, but I wanted to know about the danios also possibly for future reference as I really like them and would like to have a school at some point.

I also have a spare 5 gallon, which will most likely end up with the betta in it.

Sorry I'm such a rambler. Basically I just want to know if 10 gallons is big enough for a school of serpae tetras or neon tetras or zebra danios.

No serpaes in a tank with bettas. Serpaes are quite vicious fin nippers and bettas will not be spared. Neither will your neons last in a ten gallons with serpaes. They are quite defenseless whereas serpaes can bully or hurt them with ease. A ten gallons can fit 12-15 neons. Cross out the serpaes from your list. As for danios, they will need swimming space. A betta may be well sufficient or get some hatchetfish but be sure to place a lid on your tank as they jump. Cories or otos for bottom.

Ah I didn't specify enough here...

I meant is there enough room for 5-6 serpae tetras ALONE in that tank. Is there enough room for 5-6 neon tetras ALONE in that tank. Is there enough room for 5-6 zebra danios ALONE in that tank, and is there enough room for a male betta and 5-6 neon tetras in that tank.

Definitely didn't mean all together :S that wouldn't work well at all haha
