Starting A Brackish Tank - Help? Hello everyone, I recently acquired a 10 gallon aquarium from a friend and decided that I am finally going to attempt a brackish tank. I think it may be helpful if I ever decide to venture into salt water. Anyway, I have a filter, heater, and of course the tank. I have seen dozens of Brackish tanks that have sand as the substrate but I heard sand is not required, is this true? As far as cycling goes, do I get the salinity to the required level before I start the fishless cycle? Actually, does the typical fishless cycle work with brackish tanks? (add ammonia, wait, ect.) Is there anything else I need? Any help at all is greatly appreciated! |
I've been researching brackish tanks as well.Here's a link that I found http://badmanstropicalfish.com/brackish/brackish.html. |
On the cycling-yes get the salinity set from the start then cycle as normal. |
