Root tabs question... not about plants

I put the root tabs in a few days ago, is it normal for the tab to seep up through the substrate and be visible when looking through the glass? It kind of looks like mold on my sand, not sure if this is normal or not

I also added some root tabs a few days ago and the same thing happened. They then seemed to disappear again - they didn't go on to take over the world like "The Blob".

lol ok.. as long as my house will still be here in the a.m. then it's ok. My wife said it looks like a bird took a crap in my tank.. and I have to admit, it kinda does look like that

sometimes the roots are what causing it to resurface.my tank has the same problem.

never had this problem myself. make sure your tabs are pushed down a good 2-3 inches into the substrate

kitten_penang 08-11-2010 06:04 AM

my roots are way above the gravel.no matter how many times i add gravel to bury them they come back with a vengeance so i've given up

I too have not run into this problem, make sure they are burried well.

If you're seeing a white fuzzy growth though, I'd remove them immediately and start with fresh tabs buried deep into the gravel. White fuzz in an aquarium is not normal, nor dies it sound safe for your fish.
