some helpful items... i think
So I read that carbon filters are not good for planted aquariums.. went and got a foam filter, and got some root tabs for the plants that I have..
I got a plant (risked it) from my petsmart, they are in tubes. Anyway, I haven't had issues with them, except for yesterday. I got an Anubris Nana and it looked amazing, when I got home I went to wash it off, turns out the root was less than perfect. The leaves weren't attacked to the root at all. Can I take the leaves and shove them in the sand to get it to root? I know they aren't rooted plants and can grow on wood and whatever else you want. How can I get it so this plant wasn't a waste of.... $2.99 :)
See if you can take it back, sounds like you just got a tube that was a little to old... I've never tried to propagate Anubias before but from what I've read they are propagated through rhizome cuttings so not sure just putting the leaves in would do anything, if the rhizome is intact then it might spout new leaves, but Anubias are slow growers and you might not see much life out of it for quiet a while.
One question about the root tabs, do they just go by the plants? or should i spread them throughout the tank?
You should put them within range of the heavy root feeders, most the tabs will tell you how far this is, but I think generally its 4-6", on a side note Anubias wont need the root tabs as they tend to get most of their nutrients though the water column, which is why they are usually attached to driftwood or rocks.
