Romad 08-05-2010 03:41 PM

good luck with the search. have you tried aquabid or other online stores?

also, there are discus keepers here that might be able to help you scout out some good breeders in your area.

So I have African Cichlids but I'm looking for more exotic Cichlid like discus. Where do I start? Do they require special care or are they like angelfish (which I have kept)?

This would really be a very reputable business to breed them. I'm sure special attention is needed here too.

Could someone enlighten me on Discus?

discus is for advanced keepers.very sensitive fish if you ask me.they are also prone to a whole lot of sickness. are you looking for the sunrise type? i might be able to send you some contacts but they arent cheap because of the darn shipping cost.

I keep a tank of Discus and I love them. As long as you purchase very healthy individuals (which can be a little tricky and is the biggest single factor as far as success with these fish, IMHO) and provide them with what they need I don't find that they are any more or less difficult than my other fish. If you click on the word Discus that is highlighted it will take you to our profile for this fish.

If your fish listed under your aquariums are all still in 15 gal tank, then I would suggest larger tank before considering more Discus.
