Why are my Snail eggs dying?
My one batch of eggs died, and now I'm worried about my new batch. It's been over 5 weeks, and they still aren't hatching. Is there a certain thing you have to do to take care of the eggs?
what kind of snails? Some snail eggs need brackish water to hatch, some need air
You are unlucky.
My snails are breeding like convicts and nearly all their eggs are hatching from every single batch.
In the begining is was nice to have all those little shells crawling in the tank but now i cant get them to stop breeding. There is not really a retail for snails in my area so I've now started to feed them to my Frontosa's. They seem to enjoy it however.
They are kept in a 10G tank with my Betta. With a PH of 7,5, temperature 27 degrees celcuis and enough space above water level to lay their eggs. The higher temperature causes dampness that keeps the eggs "wet".
Get around 30-40 snails per batch that survives and i dont feed them at all. Somehow they always survive.
yeah, I've got to say... I'd rather have trouble getting snail eggs to hatch, than to have a snail infestation, lol. I'm constantly dumping snails into my se asia biotope for the loaches to eat. I still end up having to throw a ton away, because I have no big snail eaters.
They are mystery snails. I have a blue one, black one, two gold ones, two ivory ones, and then I also have two onion snails, but they aren't breeding. It's my blue male that's been breeding with the gold and ivory ones.
These are the eggs.
The first photo is of the dead eggs, the second photo is of the live eggs, that I so badly want to live.
