Opaline Gourami strange behavior! Pix Heavy

My opies are swimming around eachother, one with a crooked back whilst the other nips at them. they do this then switch roles where the other will bend it's back and be nipped. They are currently more colorful then I have ever seen them. I can't see any difference in fins to tell the sexes of them. I was wondering if they're fighting or spawning.

Sounds like spawning, especially with the coloration.

I asked my local Aquatics expert, being that we think they're both female she said they will sometimes imitate spawning taking turns being the male. She said they also may just be establishing dominance. Anyone else seen this behaviour?
