Corydora breeding set up
What would be a good breeding set up for corydoras. Also what is recommended to feed the fry. Thanks:-)
daphnia of finely crushed pellets are good for the babbies =)
Would this set-up work?
A 13 gallon storage bin with no substrate, an airstone, sponge filter, and spawning mop. Would this work to breed cory's?
according to m book it say the breeding tank need not be larger then a 2 1/2 gallons capacity with a fine sand base 1 or 2 broad leaf plants and some kind of filtration is essential .introduce cory's at a ration of 2 males to 1 female a trio is prefebral to 6 specimens in this siize of and aquarium.if they are in breeding condition they wold require no inducement to spawn but if reluctant then gradually lower the water level by 30 to 40 per cent over 5 days.on the 6th day replace what have been removed with fresh water of a marginal lower temperature.this is t imitate the natural environmental condition of cory's, who spawn at the onset of the rainy season. hope this helps =)
My breeding tank has been running since Sunday with just an airstone. Tomorrow I'm going to get a sponge and a T valve and make myself a sponge filter, and get that up and running in the tank. I'm also going to get the spawning mop and some methylene blue. I'm hoping to get my corydoras in the breeding tank by Saturday or Sunday.=]
why methylene blue do they have white spots??
Well I don't have eggs yet but I've read that corydora eggs are prone to fungus. So I'm getting methylene blue just in case.
oh ok thats smart =)
I have another question. For the breeding tank will just an airstone suffice or will I also need a sponge filter?
you will need some sort of filteration and a air pump but maybe get a low power air stone if your going to have fry swimming freely around your tank ....good luck
btw i would leave it another week before you get your fish to give your tank time to cycle :):):)......good luck :)
