we got ourselves one of these at the weekend. my bf has wanted 1 for ages but cos i had guppies and long finned fish we couldnt have 1. now they have all been moved we went to get 1. since we got it i have only seen it once. i hope its ok. r they known for hiding? it could b in one of the caves. r they nocternal? i feel like pullin the tank apart just to c if its ok
They do better in shoals according to planetcatfish, may explain its hiding, although catfish in general are not known for thier outgoing nature.
Again from PC its says that it is peaceful with conspecifics and other residents so tbh i don't see the problem keeping it with the guppies and other long finned fish, although that isn't an issue now that you have moved them.
so u think that perhaps i should get another 1? will i school with another variety of syno? there they only had 1 in the shop and they r labelled as aggressive? so thats not true either? ill perhaps c if they have another at te weekend, thanks
if you get another upside down catfish you will have two hiding buddies.
there not aggressive and if you mix species you might have a little squable over a good hiding spot but thats about it.
yep theyre nocturnal. mine hides all the time as well but at night, if you leave all the lights off you should see her coming out to scurry along the bottom looking for food
imo a lovely catfish. do you know what variety he/she is?
nope just an upside down catfish lol! havent a clue. do they swim the right way up at all? like to eat n stuff! sounds dumb i know but its not my fish and dont know a lot about them!!
In all probability, Synodontis nigriventris, unless its one of those crazy Czechs hybrids
