no bubbles

ive recently given my largest tank and overhaul ive removed the bogwood which was making the water the color of tea and during moving some of the decor i stiired up the sand but no gas bubbles came out and very little dirt ,are the bubbles of gas a good sign? in other words do they indicate that the proper biological processes are taking place?

Bubbles just indicate your sand is lacking air passages making most areas anaerobic.
