are these signs of breeding??
my friends cichlids (yellow labs) are acting kind of weird lately, he says they have been swimming around in circles chasing eachother a lot and the always kiss or it kinnda looks like they are trying to bite eachothers faces a lot and it doesnt look like there attacking eachother. i looked it up and i read it is flirting or whatever but i wanted to make sure
It could be a sign of nuptual bliss or it could be a sign of aggression and the ritual of dominance. Cichlids are territorial by nature and this could be two males trying to assert dominance, one over the other.
Does your friend know that he has a male and a female? The male will have much more black on his vental fins than the female. The ventral fins will also be longer.
