Finally soaked the wood enough thats its not turning the water all that orange and it turns out the pieces were bigger than I thought...

Looks Great! I know my fish love the wood. They hang around under it often and pick at it too. Of all the decor in the tank they seem to enjoy the wood the most.

Looks good, I have a piece just like the one on the right, after a few weeks in the aquarium it started getting white fuzz in the knots (which i think is sap) also had a big drop of sap on it, so you might want to keep an eye on it. After about a month the fuzz began to dissipate but just last week I went ahead and cleaned it with boiling water to get the rest off.

Ya the peice on the left got the fuzz so I brushed it off and soaked it some more, both pieces have been soaking in a bucket of steaming water for like 2 weeks.

Of course this second piece has grown the fuzz stuff on it too, gonna brush it off and put it back in. Im still seeing it "leak" what i think is sap, just looks like little white boogers that pick off pretty easy and are sticky.

quick update: if youve never had to deal with this fuzz stuff ill tell you now that it smells pretty bad.

also i decided to kinda stand this piece up, i think it looks better. couldnt help it, ive spent the past day looking into terrariums and really want to set up a nice lizard tank with plants and wood to climb on.

Oh goodness yes, that smell is putrid. It gagged me. When I took mine out of the tank to scrub I decided to scrub and boil. The white fuzz has not come back at all. I really love the look of the wood in a tank. I think it gives a wonderful natural feel to the tank and the fish seem to really enjoy it.
