Is BIO-Wheel Effective When Run As A Supplemental Filter?
I am looking to get some supplemental filtration for my new 72G setup, so naturally I am going to go with a cheap power filter. But I was wondering, is a BIO-Wheel effective when not run all day long? (i.e. won't it dry out)
Bio wheels are meant to be run all the time. The spinning motion provides wet-dry which gives your good bacteria an oxygen boost. If it dries out completely you will have lost some of your bacteria.
I tried to do supplimental filtration also. I hated it. I just sucked it up and bought a nice canister filter for only $88. If I do it right the first time I won't have to do it again.
