Looks like pond snail to me.:)

that's what i was thinking..would you like these nasty things..they are killing my planted aquarium

jclee 06-30-2010 03:45 PM

That looks like a type of nerite snail. I've had a few of those. Do they have black lines and spikes around the whorls? If it is a nerite, it shouldn't bother your plants and it won't reproduce.

Jclee, the OP knows it's a nerite. She was referring to the one in front of the plant.:wink2:

Woah. I didn't even see that. Sorry.

yep, pond snail! those nasty buggers come in all sorts of disgusting colours.... Clear, clearish red, clearish brown, clearish green, solid brown, brown with red spots... But you can always tell they're pond snails by how fast they move and how they're always the same shape.

if you have shrimp in that tank, just squish the snail against the glass, and the shrimp will have a high protein feast (good for egg development!)

Are you really giving them away?

dfbiggs 07-11-2010 12:42 AM

Well I have been trying to give them away to local las vegans on craigslist but everyone keeps flaking out. I have a planted tank so I don't want them at all..they were cute at 1st but now I have too many and they eat my plants. Also it is an invert only tank so I don't have fish that will keep em in line. YES!!! I am giving them away..and i am going to need someone on a regular basis to keep giving them to since they are impossible to get rid of. ..but i am looking for a close contact (in las vegas).
