Aquara design with landscape rocks
I went to the landscape rock yard today. I just wanted some of you that might want to redesign your tanks to check out one of these places. I got all my rocks for my tanks here at KRC Rock. I went last time and got some black slate peices that were broken. All Free. They have all kinds of rock. I looked on the ground around the bins alot of broken pieces. These are nice to stack or build retaining walls for a second level to your tank. They can not sell broken pieces they will let you come by and pick up broken pieces. This place does not charge for the broken pieces. These are also great pieces to attach java fern or java moss to. I use clear fishing line or the plastic bath sponge thing taken apart and put over the moss with a tie wrap underneath.
I would ask before collecting the pieces. I went inside to make sure but did not mind paying if I had to as it would have been cheaper then the aquarium store. The guy told me to go ahead They are free. I posted a pictures below of the bucket of rocks and a picture of what I got on the ground. I also put a picture of my retaining 2nd level I made for my 6 gal. tank. I plan on making another level to one of my tanks.
If any of you out there did get your rocks from a landscape place of have good ideas post some pictures here and share them.
woh free stuff + imagination = beautiful tank =)
