Refugium Lighting question
so now that the DT is finally going and i am not going to mess with it i turn my thought to lights on my Refugium... i currently have a little 12" t5 running on it (will be running opposite my DT as of tonight) is this sufficient? i was almost thinking a CFl grow bulb may be a better option in a clamp on fixture or something... ATM all that is in there is some rubble. eventually i plan on a little sand and some seaweed clumps to culture pods from some pieces of LR i may put in later...

All I have over mine is a clip-on lamp I got at Lowes with a 15w 6500k CFL, and its growing all KINDS of lovely stuff in there. The macro algae all but died, but I think I added it WAAAY too soon. There was nothing for it to eat. It is starting to make a comeback though. I'll take a pic later so you can see what all is growing in there. Its FULL of purplish and a little bit of green algae. BTW... I leave it on all the time, I never turn it off. I went through cycles of turning it off, and it all seems to be doing better when I just leave it on all the time. (Its not like there are any animals or coral in there that need a light cycle)

Sorry I got busy this week... as soon as the cam charges I'll get a pic. (ran the battery out today while we were at a free demo at Bigfoot headquarters...) I hope its helping, what did you end up doing?

that pink/purple stuff is bad for the tank, i would recomend scraping it off. also the green is just algea

I thought the purple stuff was the good coraline algae? It doesn't actually look so green... the flash did that.
