Unexplained Mollie Deaths
Hi All

I have a 40 litre tank that has a Siamese Fighting Fish, Guppies, Mollies, Neon Tetras and Black Widow Tetras in the community. The tank has been established for several months now and all has been going well until two days ago.

I awoke in the morning to find one of my dalmation mollies dead upside down at the bottom of my tank, even though it had been reaaly active the night before. I conducted a partial water change yesterday after discovering the dead mollie and last night i checked the water parameters and all were well within limits.

However this morning my other Dalmation Mollie and a white Mollie that had been eating well and active the night before chasing each other around the tank have now also died. The Dalmation Mollie was floating upside down at the top of the tank and the white one was correct way up at the bottom of the tank. There are no signs of disease on them and the other fish in the tank are eating and actively swimming around the tank, showing no signs of distress.

The recent deaths have puzzled me and wonder if anyone has any ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

maybe over crowding and stress?

Im thinking along the same lines as Austin. That's a lot of fish for such a small tank.

Thanks for your advice, glad to say there were no more deaths and all seems to be going well again. It just seems starnge that after several months of being the same they died, but at least no more have died.
