Rainbows for 50g
 

I'm getting a 50g tank going and want to do Rainbows in it.It will also have 2 gold gouramis.Since the Rainbows should be in groups can I mix it up with 2 or 3 of Boesmani and 2 or 3 Australian for example or should they all be the same for a group?I also want to do a group of Threadfins.

Well, that article addresses shoaling within a species based on coloration, but more importantly rainbows of different species might not shoal together. I've also heard that some species may be able to hybridize, which is something that's generally frowned upon.

Yeah I found more articles about not only rainbows but all shoaling fish.Basically they stay with their own so that they don't stand out from the group.Makes sense if you're trying to not become a meal!
